The Nigerian Dental Therapists’ Association has elected new national Executive Council members.
They were elected at the School of Nursing auditorium of the Ekiti State University on Thursday during their Annual General Meeting, which was attended by the sector leaders of the Association and members from all over the country.
Mr. Dats Danjuma Ibrahim emerged National President after defeating two other contestants at the election which he described as the most transparent and fairest in the history of the Association.
Delivering an acceptance speech on behalf of the newly elected national executive council members, Mr Ibrahim thanked the Federal Ministry of Health for its support and encouragement for the overall development of the Association.
“This is indeed a memorable day for all members of the Nigerian Dental Therapists’s Association.
“It is memorable primarily, because we have been able after a very long time to give ourselves a comprehensive Constitution that will henceforth guide and regulate not only the functions of the executive’s at different organs but the future operation of NDTA as well.
“The birth of the Constitution would never have been possible without the support of the Ministry of Health and the selfless commitment of members of the committee set up for that purpose and for the reconciliation and settlement of the minor family dispute that reared its head earlier.
“We must remain eternally grateful to the Ministry and to the chairman of that committee and his team.
“Secondly we must appreciate the great effort of the AGM Committee for the great effort in seeing to the success of this convention.
“I must admit here too, that the chairman and members of the electoral committee have done a wonderful job in conducting what is inarguably the most free, transparent and generally accepted election in the history of our great Association.
“We also remain eternally grateful to the respected elders and entire members of NDTA for cooperating with the various organs and participating in the variously in the process that led to the historic success recorded this day.
“I Dats Danjuma Ibrahim, on behalf of the newly elected members of this new Exco hereby solemnly declare acceptance to serve the Association selflessly and to steer and reposition it for more dynamic achievements.
“This, I must admit, cannot be possible without genuine support from all members. I therefore solicite the support of all NDTA members members at every level and the continued support of the Ministry in order to be able to see this great dream through.
“Together we shall succeed in making NDTA great again by building a healthy synergy with other recognized Labour and trade unions locally and internationally.
“Together we shall reposition the NDTA to empower fellow members to strategically reclaim the glory of our golden profession so that we can overall ensure the provision of the needed dental health of our country which is primary.
“Together we shall peacefully but firmly pursue all rights and privileges due collectively and individually to every NDTA member anywhere including aspiring professionals.
“Together, we shall see meaningful, transparent and dynamic changes that will enable members of this noble profession to compete favourably in the fast-moving global activity,” Mr Ibrahim said.
