Eboyi NUT gets new chairman admits crisis

A new chairman of Nigeria Union of Teachers(NUT), Ebonyi state has emerged.

He is the former state Deputy Chairman, Comrade Simon Ozor.

A statement of the union said this follows the expiration of the six months grace period which was given to the former chairman, Comrade Joseph Nweke who retired from service on 30th September, 2016.

According to the statement signed by the state first Vice Chairman, Comrade Alphonsus Edigbo, state secretary of All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools, Comrade Chijioke Odibo,
representatives of Association of Primary schools heads, Comrade Onyekachi Eze, representatives of Junior Secondary Schools Principals, Comrade Chukwu Nwochibe, the State Chairman Concerned teachers Comrade David Elom and branch treasurers and representatives Comrade Alu Ibiam
says anyone transacting any business with the former chairman is doing so at his or her own risk.

The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Ebonyi state wing has condemned as false the purported press release by some faceless elements that the state Chairman of the association, Comrade Joseph Nweke is no longer the state Chairman.

In a communiqué issued at the end of its executive meeting in Abakaliki and signed by Comrade Joseph Nweke the Chairman, Comrade Nkwede Franklin National representative, state treasurer Comrade Oluoma Ndukwe on behalf of the state wing of NUT says comrade Joseph Nweke is still the state chairman of NUT.

The communiqué therefore warned that anyone who parades himself or herself as the State Chairman of NUT should desist from such act and does so at his or her own risk.

It urged the state secondary education board, universal basic education board and teachers to disregard the purported removal of the state chairman.
