The Ebonyi State N-Power Coordinator, Nnannah Okafor has denied the alleged extortion leveled against the N-Power officials in the state from some beneficiaries of the federal government empowerment programme.
Mr. Nnannah in an interview with Unity Times in Abakaliki said that the allegations were false, stressing that the officials never collected money from anyone but have continued to work tirelessly to ensure the success of the programme in the state.
He said, “Everybody is complaining of extortion. We are not aware of extortion; we do not do manual work here. Everything about N-Power is ICT based. What we do here is transmission. In February, we distributed close to 4,000 posting letters to N-Power beneficiaries and no dime was collected from anyone.
He therefore advised beneficiaries to upload their data online at any cybercafé of their choice.
In a related development, Ebonyi State Commissioner for Youth Empowerment and Job Creation, Chief Donatus Njoku has advised beneficiaries of N-Power in the state to stop discrediting the effort of the state government in running of the programme in the state.
He said, “They should be bold to make complaints directly to me, let me find solution to whatever is their problem , instead of giving false information to the public”, he said.
