Civil Societlies Organization visits the Minister of State, Aviation on the closure of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport

The President of the Civil Societies Organizations Mr Bassey led his team to visit the Minister of State for Aviation, Hadi Sirika, to get information about the 5.8 billion dollars earmarked for the repair of the Abuja airport in the 2017 budget.
In his remark, the Minister advised Civil Society groups to always get correct information from reliable sources before addressing the public.

The Minister of State made it clear that the only acceptable option is to shut down the airport for 6 weeks for complete repair, and assured the team that the shut down will not last more than 6 weeks.

He added that experts on velodrome as well as the Council of Engineers have agreed with the decision to shut down.

The Minister acknowledged the hardship the closure will cost passengers and pleaded with them to endure the hardship in view of the long term benefit while stressing the fact, that the runway in Abuja had failed completely.
The Kaduna Airport is to serve as the alternative route.
