The Kogi State Police Command on Tuesday received 58 students of various tertiary institutions in the state who on their own volition, renounced membership of various cult groups they hitherto belonged.
The feat was achieved by the Campus Cult Eradication Foundation (CCEF) in collaboration with the Inspector General of Police.
Presenting the repented cultists before Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Mr Wilson Inalegwu, the National Coordinator of CCEF who was also a former cultist, Samuel Ejembi said the foundation was charged with the responsibility of persuading cultists to renounce membership and integrate them to the society.
Ejembi who lamented that Nigeria tertiary institutions have been designated as recruitment grounds for cultism, disclosed that through fruitful partnership with security agencies, CCEF would rid the society of deadly secret societies.
Responding, Kogi Commissioner of Police, Mr Wilson Inalegwu commended the ex-cultists for the courage to dump their past life to embrace the path of peace and development.
The police boss who encouraged them not to backtrack on their decision, expressed readiness to partner the foundation to effectively deliver its life-saving mandate.
