Biu Emirate Youths Advancement Coalition (BEYAC) have threatened to tackle EFCC Chairman, Mallam Ibrahim Magu if he orders arrest of former Chairman of Pension Reform Taskforce, Abdulrasheed Maina over N1.7 billion allegation.
The emirate youths, in a statement on Monday by their Coordinator, Mallam Umar Bundi Bukar, said Magu’s claim that the EFCC had uncovered N1.7 billion in Maina’s 7-year-old son’s account was a move to “persecute” the ex-Pencom boss.
“Let him touch Maina and he will know that he touched a Biu man. How can intelligent Nigerians not read in between the lines to see that EFCC under Magu is rotten to the core?
“No such account exists and if Magu is sincere, he should publish the account showing the balance of N1.7bn as he indicated at the House sitting so that Nigerians can independently verify, as no word coming from Magu can be trusted,” he said.
Bukar said Magu was trying to de-market Maina’s political credentials ahead of 2019, as he (Maina) was likely to become the next governor of the state following agitations for power shift to Borno South.
