Federal University, Lokoja (FUL)The Federal University, Lokoja (FUL) has announced plans to commence postgraduate programmes from the 2018/2019 academic session.
This followed the successful completion of academic activities by the second set of students that will be graduating at the second convocation ceremony this Saturday.
The vice chancellor, Professor Angela Miri, made the disclosure while speaking on activities to mark the second convocation ceremony of the university.
She said no fewer than 288 students would be graduating with first degree awards.
Miri said the establishment of the Postgraduate School in the institution remained one of the most significant steps to transform the institution to a world class university.
“We are building a university for the future and as such, the Postgraduate School will take off in earnest as soon as the National Universities Commission (NUC) grants the approval.
The VC also said that the NUC had accredited all the programmes being offered in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, saying “the faculty of science is awaiting full accreditation in the second quarter of 2018.
She added that realities on ground had shown that the present location of the university is no more suitable as there is no room for expansion, and the school had to move to its permanent site.
