Lions Club installs Olalekan as new President, celebrates 20yrs By Oru Leonard

The Wuse Abuja Lions Club has installed Lion Taiwo Olalekan Oyebamiji as new president. The events which also marked the twenty years anniversary of the club took place on Saturday October 14.

The meeting was call to order by 15.34 according to the Lions Club protocol which involved the national anthem, Lions Prayer, Lions International Purpose, Lions Code of ethics and Defining the Lion.

In his acceptance speech, the newly installed President quoted a school of thought which says, “the best investment is to invest on people” and noted that reaching out to offer help to people in the society who are distressed, weak and to add substance to the needy, is in consonance with Lions Club Code of Ethics and said that pulling resources together will be more cost effective in assisting a large number recipients.

Lion Oyebamiji highlighted the projects/services he wants the Wuse Abuja Lions Club to embark on during his tenure, and called on members, friends and other well-wishers to donate generously in order to ensure a hitch service delivery.

Earlier in his valedictory speech, the immediate past president Lion Lawrence Onukwuba, who won the best region Chairperson in the district, gave account of his stewardship and urged all members to extend the same level of support to the new President.

The occasion was attended by members and friends of the club in the FCT including the former District Governor, Former ambassador to Angola and Israel, His Excellency, Folorunso Olukoya, the 1st Vice Chairman, Lion Otoabasi Ansa, General Manager NTA Mrs. Simeon Oganya, Former District 404A2 Governor, Lion Onayi Lami

The Lions Club is an international non-governmental, non – for- profit with about 46,000 clubs and 14 Million members round the globe.
