MILITARY DESTROYED THE POLITICAL STRUCTURE OF THE COUNTRY – HON ISRAEL

An academia and erudite scholar of agronomics, Hon Amanze Israel has said that the military caused the present agitation for restructuring
when they military came and jeopardized everything to their wishes and shared everything belonging to Nigerians with a lot of injustice Hon. Amanze who made the assertion while speaking to journalists in Umuahia on the occasion of 57th independence celebration noted that though the country have moved forward politically adding that “if we have followed the federal character tenaciously we should not have been in such problems of agitations from different ethnic groups, we have progressed but not as we are supposed to, we have everything we need but we only think of diverting them to our private pockets.

People should have patriotic spirit. If it is possible I support restructuring, I believe we should develop what we have comparative advantage over others, the oversize of Nigeria is making us inefficient”. He further opined that our economy can get out of the present state through agriculture, pointing out that it is a place someone can make it, the youths should discard the idea that working in the farms is a menial job, it is possible to make it without capital, there is a capital that is inside us, we have to explore, we don’t expect that we must start big agriculture presents the best way to produce millionaires, everything in the world is in agriculture.

He advised those engaged in agriculture to take it as a business or remain poor pointing out that “you must know how much is invested and how much is realized.

On the introduction of tollgates in the country, Hon. Amaze suggested to the authorities should look into the structure of the country and consider it pace of development, you cannot fix tollgates while you have not fixed the roads in particular, zones look at Enugu – PH, Aba Ikot Ekpene and many too numerous to be mentioned besides the construction of roads from the North East to Abuja etc., to roads in the South east, the re introduction is with mixed feelings.
