US Congress Vows To Help Nigeria End Insurgency in North East

The delegation of United States Congress has assured Nigerian military of its support and assistance in the counter insurgency operations in the North East  during their visit to the Theatre Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

The delegation which comprised three senators and three members of the House  of Representatives,  led by Senator Christopher Coons said their visit to Borno State is to see how US can partner with Nigerian military and government to end Boko Haram insurgency in the  North East.

The senator who spoke on behalf of the delegation from the United States accompanied by the US Ambassador to Nigeria to the headquarters of Theatre Command Operation Lafiya Dole, Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri, also commended the efforts of the Military Command and Control Centre on the achievements made in the ongoing operations.

He said, ” We have come to show our support to the Nigerian soldiers in the counter insurgency operation in the northeast Nigeria. We would increase our technical support to ensure that the crises ravaging the region is brought to an end.”

Also speaking during the visit the Theatre Commander operation Lafiya Dole, Major General Ibrahim Attahiru, said that the visit of the US congregational delegation goes a long way to show how the United States is extending its hands to the counter insurgency operations in the northeast.
