An All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Ebonyi State and the national coordinator, Initiative for Demonstrating Change in Nigeria,
Comrade Chinedu Ogah yesterday warned the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to desist from using his
organization to defraud illiterate youths in the South East in the name of actualisation of the state of Biafra.
Briefing journalists yesterday in Abakaliki, Comrade Ogah expressed regret that 90 per cent of the youths parading themselves as IPOB
members are illiterates youths in Onitsha, Anambra State, Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital and other cities in the country who are mostly, tricycle operators, okada riders, or other artisan workers in the cities.
According to him, those who are members of the group do not have any meaningful job they are doing adding that no serious minded Igbo youth
who is industrious and has set objective to better his life, would abandon his business, education or handiwork to engage in the activities of the group.
Comrade Ogah described the agitation for the creation of Biafran State as a wild dream and urged Nnamdi Kanu to stop deceiving innocent and
unsuspecting Igbo youths whose lives he has continuously endangered .
He stated that the current agitation or struggle for the realization of the sovereign state of Biafra was a mirage as it was not feasible
in a country like Nigeria adding that what the South East should advocate is equitable distribution of the nation’s resources.
He listed the key problems with the Igbo to include selfishness on the part of its leaders and relegation of the interest of youths to the
background adding that the problem of the Igbo became hydra-headed following the age-long insensitivity of Igbo leaders to the plight and
future of the younger generation.
According to him: “Biafra is not realisable and you know it. I believe in one Nigeria. Igbo are the ones killing themselves. If we change our
attitude everything will change around us. The position other tribes are occupying today, Igbo had occupied it before. But what did they do
with it? They go into these positions and take all the benefits accruable to them without recourse to their brothers and sisters back home.
“Our representatives are the problems. Who and who have they given jobs or empowered at both the state and federal level? Our problem is
greed, selfishness and lack of concern for one another.
” The so-called activities of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is a designed plan to siphon money from
different categories of Nigerians in the name of Biafra and not for any genuine collective interest concerning Ndigbo”.
According to him, “Nobody is marginalizing Igbo people, we are the ones marginalizing ourselves because of the kind of Igbo leaders who
have represented us and are still doing so till date.
“We are the causes of our problems; Nnamdi Kanu is using his so-called IPOB to siphon money from different categories of Nigerians; most of
the people working with him are touts and unemployed youths and the likes; I believe in one Nigeria; Igbo are not marginalized; we are the
ones marginalizing ourselves”.
Comrade Ogah also urged the Ekiti State governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose to apologise to Nigerians over his hate speeches against the President
adding that his utterances were capable of disrupting the peace of the country.
