The President of the Nigerian Senate has warned that the high rate of children that cannot not have access to formal education in the country poses grave threat to peace and security in the country.
According to a tweet on his twitter handle, Senator Saraki observed that “With 10.5million out-of-school children in Nigeria, we are sitting on a ticking time bomb. We must get these children back in the classroom!”
The Senate had amended the Compulsory, Free, Universal Education Act to make primary and secondary education free and compulsory across the country.
There has been high rate of crime in the country, including abduction for ransom, especially school children, terror attacks on school facilities in Borno State, North eastern Nigeria, Fulani herdsmen attacks, among others.
