The Presidency has disclosed that Nigerian President Mohammadu Buhari who has been away in London, United Kingdom treating an undisclosed ailment since May 7 is now set to return to his country anytime this week “Politics Nigeria” reports.
A statement credited to an aid to the wife of the president, Mrs. Aisha Buhari states that:
“The information just reached me now from the wife of the president is that everything is set for the return of Mr President to Nigeria. Already, some of the president’s family members and security aides of Madam (Aisha Buhari) have just returned from London.
The wife of the president may either leave London on Wednesday or decide to come home with the president anytime soon. We have been told to be on standby because Mr President is returning any time this week.”
Meanwhile, Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State, one of the seven governors who purportedly visited Buhari last week in London while assuring Nigerians of the speedy recuperation of Mr. President noted that they advised him not to rush back to Nigeria before his doctors think him fit to return.
Ortom stated that: “when we met the President, he was in high spirit and is eager to return to Nigeria. God has shamed those who wanted him dead. He chatted with us and we told him to take his time and recuperate well until his doctors find him fit to resume work”.
The Nigerian Constitution provides for a president not to stay away from work beyond 90 days and President Buhari has spent about 85 days on medical vacation already.
