As cries and calls by Nigerians to hear their president speak to them or see him for reassurance reach a scathing peak, a sitting picture of President Mohammadu Buhari has finally been released.
The picture, which portrayed a feasting mood, with the Nigerian leader and some chieftains of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) seated supposedly in a meeting in London was released by government late Sunday.
“Party delegation spent more than an hour with President Buhari over lunch and it was very clear from the discussions that he followed developments at home very closely,” presidential spokesman Femi Adesina said in a statement.
“When asked to react to all the negative things being said about him, the president just laughed, describing such negative reports as lies.
“Governor Rochas Okorocha said President Buhari was completely unperturbed by the cocktail of lies. He, instead, sent his best wishes to Nigerians.”
The statement added that Buhari would return to Nigeria “as soon the doctors give him the green light”.
This is the first picture to be released of the ailing president after about 77 days since he left the country for treatment of an undisclosed ailment in London on May 7.
